RESTORING TURK FAMILY GRAVES

WEB_prill_parker_cemetery.jpg
Descendant Cherie Turk Prill and husband Rich Prill, September 2007

September 2007 saw the cleaning and resetting of the graves of John Marshall Turk (1851-1854) and Charlotte Elizabeth Turk (1853-1854) oldest children of John Turk and Mary Ann Marshall.  These children died within days of the deaths of their Grandmother Charlotte Kelker Marshall and their young Uncle Freddie Marshall.  These four family members were the first to be buried in the John and Charlotte Marshall Plot in the Parker Presbyterian Cemetery--a burial place which includes the Turks, four of Mary Ann Marshall Turk's brothers and many of their family members.  Rich and Cherie Turk Prill of Spokane assisted her Uncle Sam Turk of Emlenton in cleaning this stone;  Kelly Marshall had cleaned the other.  Sam and his son-in-law Tim Orton then reset them, permanently, at their original places beside their Grandmother Marshall.

Thanks to Sam Turk of Emlenton for the photos of his great-grandparents, John and Mary Ann Marshall Turk; and also for the family photograph of his grandparents and his father as a boy.

The photographs of Henry Marshall Turk and Samuel Marshall Turk, as well as the possible photos of John and Mary Ann Marshall Turk, come through the Henry M. Turk Family of Parker, and are kept by Marjorie Laine Zollinger, wife of the late Edward M. Zollinger (Henry's grandson).

Kelly Marshall made the scan of the Marshall Family Bible excerpt and of the John Wilson document, with the help of Marge Zollinger.  The photos from Parker, Pennsylvania, and of Sam Turk's 80th birthday celebration were taken by Kelly, also.
